Humanity
Verse 1:
I don’t know how long it has been this way
Has it always been in disarray
The stories are so very alarming
I hear more of them every day
No point in calling it a crisis
When it’s just our reality
I can’t help but wonder if there might be
Something missing in our humanity
Verse 2:
Could a missing piece be all around us
Or impossibly far away
I spend my time searching for a trace of it
Haven’t noticed any round here today
I’ve been wondering for a long long time
About this mystery
Could it be that I’m the only one to see
That there’s a missing piece in our humanity
Chorus 1:
Maybe it’s just a matter of time, and all we need to do is wait
Humanity might just heal itself maybe it’s not too late
Could it be a matter of hope, a matter faith and trust
And acknowledging that humanity is nothing more than all of us
Verse 3:
There can only be so much time
How could it be enough
At least there’s been time for love and fun
And collecting lots of stuff
But this stuff keeps distracting me
From confronting the reality
That this might be the best it will ever be
Maybe this is it, our sad humanity
Chorus 2:
There’s a race between the time we have and all the time we need
It’s not a contest we can hope to win but maybe we could plant a seed
Perhaps it’d grow into a catalyst that might heal humanity
If we restored the missing piece could we discover sanity
Verse 4:
Time will win, its clear to me
Time has run a clever race
Through remarkable persistence
Time’s kept up a steady pace
Time may soon catch up with me
Maybe I will get to see what I hope to see
If it appears just once in front of me
That missing piece of our humanity

=================================
A song about how the world is looking, and has probably always looked. It’s taken a long time to come together. Hope it’s worth it. Some songs come easy – this hasn’t been one of them.
